For December we spotlight a way to make birthdays special for kids with The SAFE Alliance.
A merger of Austin Children’s Shelter and SafePlace, The SAFE Alliance is a Central Texas nonprofit whose mission is to stop abuse for everyone. SAFE provides support and stability for children, adults, and families who have experienced child abuse, sexual assault and exploitation, and dating and domestic violence.
SAFE supports survivors throughout Central Texas, offering shelter and housing, counseling, legal assistance, sexual assault forensic exams, a charter school, and more. In 2017, SAFE served over 6,500 youth and adults in Central Texas. This year, our SAFEline has received more phone calls chats, and texts, than ever before.
Because the cycle of violence is often transferred across generations, SAFE also works to prevent violence before it occurs. Through parenting assistance and education, programs that promote healthy relationships among teens, and more, SAFE is working to break the cycle of violence.
