Gabby Barrett shared sweet throwback moments with her husband, Cade Foehner, as she debuted a romantic ballad on Friday (October 3).

Barrett said her love story with Foehner is “proof that love doesn’t wait for the perfect moment… It just shows up,” she wrote as she shared a compilation of memories with her husband on Instagram. The clip is set to “Ain’t Supposed To Be,” described in a press release as “a gorgeously cinematic but true-to-life track.” Barrett wrote it with Jon NiteRoss Copperman, and Chase McGill, and it was produced by Copperman and Zach Kale.

“And we found love where it ain’t supposed to be / In a last call bar where we were supposed to leave / We were two lost hearts unbreaking broken things / And we found love where it ain’t supposed to be.”

The country star’s newest ballad “tells the story of an unlikely romance between two restless souls,” the release states, also noting the song’s stark contrast from “The Easy Part,” Barrett’s breakup single that arrived in August. These songs are the latest releases from Barrett since she released two albums within the same year in 2024. She delivered her highly-anticipated sophomore country album, Chapter & Verse, in February 2024, and followed it with her first-ever Christmas project, Carols and Candlelight, in November 2024.

Barrett, 25, and Foehner, 29, met as contestants on the 16th season of American Idol in 2018. Barrett shared in a recent podcast interview that Foehner was “very shy” when they first met, and “I had to go chase him.” They got married in Texas in 2019, and now, they share three children together: daughter Baylah May, born in January 2021, son Augustine Boone, born in October 2022, and daughter Ivy Josephine, born in February of last year.
