Listener Erica called into the Bobby Bones Show today for some advice.
She hasn't talked to her ex-husband in over two years, but they share two children with their youngest daughter being 17. Their daughter got sick so she began taking college courses in high school, however in order to keep taking those college courses our listener needs to pay $600 by January. Erica wanted advice on how she should go about talking to her ex-husband when she hasn't in so long to get the help she needs to pay for it. She deleted every way of communicating with him, her daughter has his information but only talks to him on the weekends because she has to. Her daughter doesn't want anything from him and when she turns 18-years-old, she is done talking to him so our listener doesn't want to go through her daughter to contact him.
Erica has been trying to go about getting extra shifts at the clinic she works at, and the money is coming, but not fast enough to pay this bill. The ex-husband has only contributed money to the daughter whenever they're together and insurance on a regular basis. However, our listener has paid all of the medical bills since their daughter has been sick. If she had the $600 she would happily pay it wouldn't dealing with him.
It turns out, Erica's ex-husband cheated on her with her step sister. They had been married for 20 years. Her ex-husband hated this step sister and he would even avoid family functions because she was there, but all of the sudden they started hanging out and about the same time the step sister said she met a really nice guy. He left his laptop open one day and listener Erica found out they had been contacting each other. So she put cameras up everywhere in her house and in his car. She got proof and sent everything to her step sister's command in the military and got her kicked out. Not only that she CC'ed her whole family on the email so that everyone knew. Erica's dad was really mad and it caused tension between her dad and his wife, but everyone expected it from her step sister because it's the type of person she is. No one expected it from her husband.
Amy was fired up over the entire story, but said Erica needs to call him and make him contribute to the wellbeing of their daughter. However, Bobby said he doesn't want Erica to have to talk to him ever again since she doesn't want to and he doesn't want her to feel like she owes him. So he wanted to help her out and sent her the $600 on Venmo. Erica said he didn't need to do that, she really just wanted advice. But Bobby insisted on helping and told her to say yes to the $600 so she did. Amy said she should not only take Bobby's offer, but still ask her ex-husband for the $600 so she gets double.
