Howie Mandel came on the Bobby Bones Show to share his experiences on America's Got Talent and stories from his career.
Mandel has loved being part of America's Got Talent because he gets to be part of people chasing their dreams. He added that being int he room when that's all happening is special. Mandel was the one who actually posted Richard Goodall, the singing janitor and winer of season 19, on his TikTok to help him be discovered by America's Got Talent producers. He is always surprised more people won't try to be on the show because Goodall is a great example of someone who got notoriety just from going on it. He doesn't think you have to win to get something out of it and hopes more people will "just do it" when it comes to auditions.
Despite being on many shows, Mandel admits his real love is stand up because he can say all the things there that he can't say on television or when he's working with other people. Mandel's fanbase is full of variety thanks to all the things he has been part of like Gremlins, Do Bobby, America's Got Talent, Deal or No Deal among many others. Mandel shared the most exciting and surprising time of his life was when he agreed to doing Deal or No Deal. It was the biggest thing that happened in his career, but it was also the first thing he said no to because he didn't want to do a game show. Mandel thought doing a game show would be the nail in the coffin to his career as a comedian, however, his wife told him he's an idiot and he should take the deal. So he ended up saying yes and the show blew up, which surprised him more than anybody. He also noted he knows he wasn't the show's first choice for a host, but he isn't sure how many exactly said no before him.
